people's problems are ours.

we help women and children in the local communities of the United States and the Developing Countries improve their living standards and provide them with new educational and economic opportunities.

OUR HISTORY

The non-profit organization Hands Helping Humanity International grew from the desire of an orphan and single child Dr. Kokouvi Peter Oni since the 1970s, to help women and children facing extreme poverty and hunger situation, and other related scourges, especially in developing countries. After over two decades of real-life experience with several multinational relief and development agencies in countries most affected by wars, internal conflicts and natural calamities, he was dedicated invest the rest of his life into humanitarian activities. Supported by some dynamic women with similar charitable background, who added their voice to his thoughts, gave birth to this challenging organization Hands Helping Humanity in January 2008.

WHERE WE DO IT

We have optionally chosen to implement a pilot phase of projects/programs in Lane County and in Africa. In Africa, four countries have been assessed since 2005 and host our pilot program: Ghana, Benin, Ivory Coast and Togo. The liaison office is based in Lome, capital city of Togo (West Africa) to coordinate the pilot phase of projects/programs.

WHY WE DO IT

Over many decades, several programs and projects have been initiated and implemented for the well-being of developing countries, but the situation nowadays is still showing a sad picture. Despite the tremendous efforts of Governmental and Non-Governmental institutions, Regional and International institutions including those from the Breton Woods, people of the Global Southern Nations are still facing crucial problems: extreme poverty and hunger, child and maternal mortally, lack of universal education, high rate of death of HIV/AIDS, malaria and other critical diseases, biodiversity degradation; international trade regulations have been deteriorated ever since, integrated projects and dams construction experience have failed, lack of support and management to local initiatives etc.

What tangible input do we need to avoid the worst?

Hands Helping Humanity is sensitive to the above social and economic indicators and will join the Millennium and Human Development process to tackle the problems at a grassroots level and bring a modest added value to push the “poverty curtain “and its related facts naturally set up in the current globalization system.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Hands Helping Humanity will base its unique strategy of intervention on an original slogan “Gleaning and Hope” which consists to involve women and children at every single step of our projects and programs in filling up the gaps left by previous actors in the field and this, based on availability of resources.

Recipients must be free to exercise their choices and participate in decision-making that affect their lives.

Themes such as equality, inclusion/positive differences, sustainability, critical diseases, millennium and human development goals shall be provided to the community at regularly brainstorming and awareness meetings to demystify the hidden side of complex programs management.

Recipients will receive “Small Revolving Grants” and will adopt a traditional approach of “Gramen Bank” management to secure the scare resources and optimize their benefits.

All projects will be requested to “Greening” their budget and activities through a global and sustainable development approach.

For the first time of recent memories, recipients of Hands Helping Humanity programs and projects will learn about their responsibilities and know the impact of our common decisions taken today will still affect humanity over a century from now. Hands Helping Humanity could serve as a "Reference and Reservoir of Information” (RRI) for those interested in tourism, abroad volunteering, missionary, peace corps, academic and historical research, international studies, and curiosity of how is life in the “Global Southern Nations” especially in Africa.
